1001tech Group at PIKOM Leadership Summit 2011  
1001tech Group recently participated at the PIKOM Leadership Summit 2011 at Palace of the Golden Horses, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Executive Chairman Looi Kien Leong was part of a plenary panel on Cloud Computing that included Md. Zubir Ansori CEO of Malaysia Debt Ventures, and Gary Denman, Directory of Enterprise and Partner Group, Microsoft Malaysia. He gave a talk entitled "Moving Into The Cloud Hosted Business" to an audience of about 100 of Malaysia's key ICT leaders.
1001 Technologies and 1001tech IPvox also exhibited their respective solutions during the Summit. 1001 Technologies unveiled it's new offering - the Electronic Interactive Whiteboard - which enables organisations to enhance teaching & learning applications through an interactive touchscreen-enabled board device. 1001tech Ipvox also showcased its EzyTouch Call / Contact Centre software system to attendees.

ASOCIO Chairman at Communic Macau Expo 2011

In his capacity as ASOCIO Chairman, 1001tech Group's Executive Chairman Looi Kien Leong was recently part of a delegation that visited the Communic Macau Expo 2011 - an annual event featuring the latest digital technologies and products. It was held at Macau Fisherman’s Wharf Convention & Exhibition Centre from 24 to 26 June 2011. Approximately 700 vendors were present from the IT and electronics industries, in line with the theme of "Green IT," along with visitors from all around the region.

"Selecting Best Business Ideas"
1001tech Group Executive Chairman Looi Kien Leong was recently featured on the panel of judges for the prestigious HSBC Young Entrepreneur Awards 2010 / 2011. Mr Looi was interviewed for an article in The Star's Education section highlighting the competition, which also runs in six other countries throughout Asia-Pacific this year. He was pleased with the overall standard of entries this year, and said "This has been the general trend of the competition since it started, and it is good to see that there is no shortage of ideas among our youth." 1001tech Group Executive Chairman at 2010 ASOCIO ICT Summit as ASOCIO President
1001tech Group Executive Chairman Looi Kien Leong in his capacity as the President of the Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO), was in Taipei for the 2010 ASOCIO ICT Summit. The summit was a key event within the region focusing on ICT Best Practices, with a variety of activities and keynote speeches from important personalities and experts such as Stan Shih (founder of Acer Group). The Summit was also officiated by Taiwan's President Ma Ying-jeou, who said that the event was crucial to improve communications among regional parties. Taiwan's President Ma Ying-jeou meets Mr Looi Kien Leong
1001tech Group Executive Chairman Mr Looi Kien Leong was down in Taipei, Taiwan to present the Metro-ICT Best Practice Award to Mayor Hau Lung-bin and officiate the launch of the Map of Taipei Amusement (MOTA), a service that enables people to discover attractions around the city through interactive kiosks. Mr Looi also met with Taiwan's President Ma Ying-jeou, in a discussion over Taiwan's focus on developing information services and the ICT industry. The President also expressed his well-wishes on the ASOCIO 2010 Summit from 1 - 3 December in Taipei, which he believes will be an outstanding platform for other countries to interact and learn from each other.

Teh Tarik Session with Mr Looi Kien Leong
1001tech Group Executive Chairman Mr Looi Kien Leong was the guest speaker at MSC Malaysia's R&D Community Friday Teh Tarik Session - an on-going event initiative by MDEC and MMU to facilitate informal discussions with local business owners and entrepreneurs. Mr Looi presented his views on keeping margins high through R&D, which got a warm response from attendees over teh tarik (milk tea) and light refreshments.

Mr Looi Kien Leong leads ASOCIO MTV to Bangkok
1001tech Group Executive Chairman, Mr Looi Kien Leong recently led the ASOCIO Multilateral Trade Visit to Bangkok, Thailand. As part of the Bangkok Software Summit 2010, a total of 52 delegates from 10 ASOCIO member economies participated in the MTV which aimed to forge trade linkages and deals with Thai ICT players. Mr Looi also delivered his keynote speech, entitled "The Role of ASOCIO in the Region" at the summit, which was also officiated by Thailand's Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Juti Krairiksh.

1001tech Group's Executive Chairman, Mr Looi Kien Leong in the capacity as ASOCIO President, was down in Hanoi and Ha Long Bay, Vietnam from 17 - 20th June for the ASOCIO General Assembly. On the agenda was a plenary meeting, an ICT Policy seminar, a business matching session and a courtesy visit in which Mr Looi and ASOCIO representatives met with the Prime Minister of Vietnam, Nguyen Dan Tung.

1001tech Executive Chairman Mr Looi Kien Leong, in the capacity of Global Trade Committee chairman of WITSA (World Information Technology and Services Alliance), proudly presented the WITSA ICT Excellence Award (Private Sector Category) to Malaysia’s own low-cost carrier Air Asia.
In a statement, WITSA said AirAsia had demonstrated the strategic value of ICT to increase business competitiveness, whereby a very high majority of the airline's passengers booked online. AirAsia is also the world's first airline to allow SMS booking and payment of airline tickets.
The awards presentation was made in conjunction with the 17th WCIT (World Congress on Information Technology) Gala Dinner which saw awards being given out to 7 other ICT Award Winners in three broad categories of Public Sector Excellence, Private Sector Excellence and Digital Opportunity.

1001tech Group and our call & contact centre solutions subsidiary IPVox made our presence felt at the annual AsterConference Asia 2010, which returned to Kuala Lumpur for a highly anticipated two-day session at Berjaya Times Square Hotel on 18 & 19 May. Dedicated towards the expansion of awareness for the Asterisk open-source platform, the conference drew together a variety of enthusiasts and developers from diverse industries such as call centres, PBX, CRM and SMES/business owners.

Mr Looi Kien Leong presents ASOCIO Special ICT Recognition Award to Bangladeshi PM
 
Our Executive Chairman, Mr Looi Kien Leong, in the capacity of ASOCIO President, led a multilateral trade visit to Bangladesh. Mr. Looi presented the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who initiated the ‘Digital Bangladesh 2021’ program with the ASOCIO ICT Special Recognition award during a ceremony which was attended by almost 300 people including ministers of Finance, Commerce & Trade and Science & IT of Bangladesh. The ASOCIO award was to recognise the Prime Minister for her dynamic leadership and visionary efforts for ICT in Bangladesh.

Our Executive Chairman, Mr Looi Kien Leong proudly presented the Global ICT Award (public sector) to Malaysia's MAMPU - with Director-General Datuk Normah Md Yusof on hand to accept - as part of the WITSA 2008 Global ICT Excellence Awards. The award was presented for MAMPU's governmental web portal, and marks the first time that Malaysia has won top honours.
